NURSING CELEBRATION

Nursing Celebration is nurses celebrating nursing. Since 1991, District 9 has paused to annually recognize 20 outstanding nurses and to award nursing scholarships and research grants. Over 300 nurses have been recognized and more than $40,000 in scholarships and grants have been awarded. In 2009, the Texas Nurses District 9 Foundation was created, in hopes that the non-profit status would expand the current scholarship and grant program.

Nurses from all areas of practice such as patient care, education, research and administration are recognized. All nurses from the District 9 area are eligible; they do not have to be members of TNA. Colleagues, families and friends complete nomination forms and submit them for blind review. A panel then reviews the nominations and selection is based on multiple criteria.

The scholarships are given to promising students that are members of the Texas Nursing Student Association or RNs that are members of TNA District 9. The grants are awarded to RNs that are members of TNA District 9 who are engaged in research, either at their place of employment or as criteria for an academic degree. Each scholarship and grant is submitted for blind review and graded by a panel based on multiple criteria.

Please join us as we celebrate the exceptional nurses we have amongst us and the dynamic profession of nursing.
