Informatics and Technology: Supporting Professional Nursing, Improving the Quality of Care

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!

The District 9 nominating committee has prepared the ballot to elect new officers for fiscal year 2012-2013. This year we will need to fill the following positions:
• President-Elect, President, Past-President (3 year term)
• Treasurer (2 year term)
• Board of Directors -3 positions (2 year term)
• Nominating Committee -5 positions (1 year term)
• Delegates -4 positions (2 year term)

To review the biographies of those running for elected office, please click here. After reviewing the bios and completing your ballot, please return to D9 in the envelopes provided in your mailing. Your ballot envelope must be postmarked by April 23, 2012.

Volunteers Welcomed!

There are a number of ways members can engage with the work of TNA-D9 and feel more part of the organization, and they are not necessarily too demanding:

Career Expo-
We can use help at job fairs. That can be a one time activity.

Nursing Celebration-
Do you have a flare for decorating? There is a need for our annual Nursing Celebration.  The complete list of sub-committees are:

  1. Hotel – coordinates activities with the hotel, selects the dinner menu, arranges the room set-up, determines the cost of the tickets, determines/arranges all equipment needed for the ceremony.
  2. Nominations/Top 20 Nurses – Sends out the call for nominations, reads/selects nominations, notifies the nurses, coordinates photography on the night of the event.
  3. Corporate Sponsor/Donor funding - Solicits funding to support the celebration, sends thank you letters
  4. Publicity/Marketing – Advertises the event, solicits bids on invitations, sends invitations, drafts e-vite, sends e-vite
  5. Silent Auction – Coordinates the Silent Auction and solicits the Silent Auction items, solicits volunteers to help with silent auction as well as sends thank you letters after event.
  6. Decorations - Selects and set-up decorations, orders corsages/boutonnières for honorees
  7. Ceremony/Program/ Souvenir Booklet – Solicit bids, designs and proofs the souvenir booklet, Creates biographical sketches for each nurse for the program and determines the flow of the ceremony.
  8. Registration/Table Assignments – Develops seating chart and notifies guests of assigned tables.
  9. Scholarship/Research Grants – Sends out call for applicants/abstracts, recommends awardees, notifies winners and presents awards.

Membership Meetings-
Want to meet other members? Simply help at the registration table at a membership meeting.
